Have you been feeling like running away from the reality of daily life but didn't know where you would go? Well we haven't felt like that here either and so we definitely did not take a trip. If we had taken a trip, it would not have gone something like this....
We think all of our kids are wonderful and would have never taken 2 of them on a trip and left 2 of them with Mimi and Kokopat. If we had, we would not have driven down to Disney World. And if we had driven to Disney World we would have left after Steve worked all day and not at 3PM. IF we had been planning on taking a trip with that long of a drive, I would have made sure that Casey and Landon were well rested and NOT banked on them sleeping in the car at least part of the way. I did not spend the last 30 minutes of our drive down pointing out building to Casey who was way to tired by this time and quite grumpy!! We did not get checked into our room around 11 and it did not then take me over and hour and a half to get Landon and Casey to go to sleep because they were not super excited!!! They also did not totally love finding this Mickey

in our room when we got there.
We did not have some beautiful weather while we were in sunny Florida and I always make sure that every one has clothes that will be appropriate for the weather. Since I am so prepared, there is no way that one person got to Disney with NO long sleeve shirts and 3 people wore the same long sleeve shirt for more than 1 day! Our temperatures did not go from 80 one day of our trip to being 41 on our way into the park on our last morning.
I did not get my hair cut at Disney, just so that it would stop driving me crazy and so that I could share the fun with my 2 sweet girls who have also gotten a hair cut (their first) at Disney.

I did not even ask for a set of "first hair cut ears" even though it was my first time getting a hair cut there.
We did not pack bathing suits and we did not get in the pool that was heated to 82 degrees. Really we didn't get in the pool because Mommy would have needed snorkel gear to stay in the water!! We did not have 2 short, little people ask us while chattering their teeth if they could get in the pool. Nope ever our little 2 are more reasonable than that!!!!
We did not play on the playground at our hotel. If we had, Casey and Landon would have never made so much noise that Steve found us by following their noise--not because he knew where the playground was located!! And since we didn't play on the playground, the kids not get sand in their shoes. And since there was no sand in their shoes, there was no reason for sand to be on Casey's feet. Because there was no sand on her feet, Steve did not catch her with her feet in the toilet of our hotel room washing them off!!! And if he had found her with her foot in the toilet, he would have stopped her and wash her feet (and hands) with soap and water and not just asked her what she was doing!! Casey would not have responded that she was washing the sand off of her feet!! Not in our family, we keep a close eye on our kids!!!
Since we keep such a close eye on our kids, we did not catch one of them licking the que railing while waiting in line!! That is just way to GROSS to happen in our family. I mean really, who would let their kid wash their feet in the toilet and then lick a nasty rail all in the same trip!!!
When you are at Disney you do not get the pleasure of parking in parking lots named after Disney characters. So when the tram driver said you are parked on "Pluto 19, Pluto 19", Steve did not then say "BINGO"! Nope not him, he's to reserved for that kind of silliness.
We did not have a child who wanted to meet all the characters but didn't want to wait in line and a child who didn't want to meet any of them. Well that's not true Landon wanted to see one---this one....

We also did not take them on anything that might have scared them. So after they both said they didn't like Winnie the Pooh (because there is a storm), we would have never taken Casey on Soarin. If we had, she would have loved it. Sorry Shelby she doesn't like your favorite ride!! We did not ride Dumbo and Small World a ton of times and we certainly did not take Steve on the spinning Tea Cups because he gets motion sick.

Who would do such a thing? And even if we had, he would have never gone or spun the ride as fast as he could make it go!! Nope not us!! Just for the record, Landon loved this ride and asked to do it over and over again!! We were just going so fast that he couldn't sit up!!
We did not have to explain how my camera got those 2 lovely dots in the screen every time we asked someone to take a picture for us. We finally started pointing at Landon and saying one word--LAKE!!!
We did not buy a cheap older stroller 2 years ago to take to Disney with the intention of giving it to someone who was renting one on the day we were leaving. If we had done this, we surely would have followed through with our plan and not kept said stroller because we had a sick child. So we did not take this same stroller on this trip. This stroller was not a total PAIN the entire trip--because it is not difficult to get our kids in and out of. If we got totally irritated with this stroller, we would not have brought it home. And it definitely would have not caused Steve to loose his cool for the first time on our trip because the stroller would not fold up so we could get on the tram. This would not have caused the guy on the tram row in front of us to look like he was scared that Steve was going to throw that stroller into the row. This guy and his wife (who really did not have kids with them) did not move as far down the row as they could get. I was not smiling on the inside because this stroller NEVER does this to me!!!
We did not make it just a short 2 hours into our 7 hour (if we don't stop--yea right) trip home when from the back seat we hear "I can't take this any longer"!! That did not continue until we finally just resorted to telling said child to put their thumb in their mouth and close their eyes!! We also did not take great pleasure in getting off to get gas or stretch just to hear Jill, our borrowed GPS friend, say "Recalculating". One of us did not get so tired of hearing her say "Recalculating" during one such stop that they told her to "shut up Jill". We then did not hear two little voices start singing "shut up Jill" from the back seat!!!
I did not even think that it was funny when we lost time while I was driving home last night. Just FYI, Jill tells us what time we will arrive at our destination and it went up while I was driving. Steve did not tell me that it was because for ever car that passed me, our arrival time would get later by one minute but for every car I passed, the time would get shorter by one minute. I also did not take over driving in "deerville" aka I95 from Savannah, GA to Walterboro, SC. I know we saw no less than 60 deer. Not really what you want to see driving on the interstate (or any other road). I'm sure that's why my time got later. It had nothing to do with the cars passing me thing!!
Steve and I did not use this trip to talk about a ton of things--jobs, marriage, camping, where to take Drew and Shelby on their special trip, past trips, vacations, church, friends, school, and a host of other things. We did not miss Drew and Shelby a ton and think about them and talk about the times we took them to Disney when they were small and how this trip was similar and different.
Why we do the things we do....
So what did you not do this week? Share, we would love to know!!
