The rest of the week
Here's the house. We should be able to close on it by the end of August. Isn't it pretty. We can't wait for everyone to come for a visit.

Will the fun every stop?

The power went off shortly after this picture (around 4:15) and it stayed off till almost 9. That's a long time with no power!!! But at least we were able to fix dinner--Mimi has a gas stove!!!
Finally, KP said it was safe to let everyone out of the hall and the kids took off to start playing. Drew decided to read a book and the girls all played doll house. Things went well and after dinner the 5 older kids watched Dumbo on Mimi's notebook. Thanks Kokopat, that was a great idea!!!!

Don't they all just look like they are having a blast? Just FYI, Casey is crying because Mimi got up from holding her--it was too hot!!!
All in all it wasn't to bad--at least the 2 that are scared of storms didn't cry the entire time. I'm glad we were careful. We learned the next day that they guy down the road lost a roof!!!

Great Nieghbors
Steve has been out of town since Tuesday and we have had 2 house showings and injuries and orthodontist appointments. Yesterday we were out of the house all day and neither one of the little ones got a nap!!! Guess what it was like at our house last evening!!
At about 4:30 Cameron, Bill and Debra's grandson, came over to play. Debera came over with him to make sure it was okay. When she walked in what she found was 2 little people crying and pulling on me and generally unhappiness was everywhere. I was pretty tired but basically in a good mood--hey in just 2 1/2 hours, I would be able to put at least 2 people in the bed!!! Life is good!!! I guess Debra didn't think things were going quite as well!!! We sat and talked about the day and where all we had been. Then we started talking about dinner. They were grilling chicken for them but Cameron was going to have hot dogs. I said that mine were having TV dinners. She asked what I was having and I said, I didn't know, maybe a Weight Watchers dinner but probably just a bowl of cereal. Well, later the doorbell rang and it was Debra and Bill. Bill was caring a glass of wine and Debra was caring a plate of hot food--both of which were for me!!!! Then they invited Drew and Shelby over for Root Beer Floats after they had dinner.
Now just so you know, the fact that they brought me dinner is not what makes them great neighbors but it's one example of why we love them--that they would think to bring me dinner, we got them up in the middle of the night so that Steve could drive me to the hospital when Landon was born, they've given us some beautiful plants and trees, helped us cut down trees, Steve and Bill have shared cutting the grass behind our houses, Bill always cuts his grass all the way to our drive way and then blows off our drive, they love on our kids, they share their beautiful backyard, 4 great tickets to see the Carolina Panthers play, they come over to visit, they come over for dinner and to play games, and the list just goes on and on. One more neat fact about Debra and Bill it that Debra's kids names are Steve and Shelby!!! Debra and Bill have been great and we are really going to miss them.

A great weekend
We were all up late (till midnight) on Friday and then my sweet baby boy got up as we were all coming up to bed. Well he was up till 3:30AM and then at 6:30 all of the kids got up!!! What is it about kids who can sleep late any time but let them have friends over and they get up with the sun (and sometimes before it)!! Well, I drug my self out of the bed--I just wasn't ready to get up but since 4 of the 7 kids that were up belonged to Steve and I, we got up. Steve did his best to let me rest a little longer but keeping kids quiet is a 2 person job at times. Around 7:30, Steve said something about cooking breakfast but we decided to have muffins and cook our big breakfast on Sunday. Good thing since at 8:10 my cell phone rang. They were letting me know that the house was going to be shown between 10-12!!!! Great!!!! Will asked if he should go get his mom and dad and I said "yes, tell them that they are going to show the house and we need to get moving." Well that is not quite the message. Will went up stairs and said,"MOM! DAD! YOU'VE GOT TO GET UP NOW!!" Poor Jennifer, she was dead asleep when Will came in!! At first though (and hearing the urgency in Will's voice) she thought that this must be going to involve a trip to the ER and it must be really bad since we sent Will and there is no child crying!!! After I stopped laughing (she came right down to get coffee and was telling me what had happened), I felt a little bad that they got such a wake up call. To our credit, we got 3 of 4 adults showered and dress, all the kids sleeping bags, trundle beds, pillows, blankets, clothes, suit cases, etc. picked up and put away and got all 7 kids (who are all under 12) fed and out the door by 10 minutes till 10!!!!! When we left the only evidence of guest were the extra pillows and suit cases that were stacked in the back of Landon's closets!!!
We didn't stay up quite as late last night but Landon still got up. I'm not totally sure what's going on with him. I hope it's teeth and not ear, since he was pulling at/digging in his ear tonight. Other than Landon not sleeping, it was a good weekend. We were all sorry to see the Rooney's leave. It just seems that we never have enough time to do all of the things that we want to do.
Casey is definitely tired and she has been running her 2 year old program most of the evening. She has spent most of it pitching fits!! But now it's 9 and all of the kids are in bed and Steve has gone to fill up his truck. Me, I'm enjoying the quiet and trying to still not think about the house--seems we might have gotten some incorrect info about our favorite house plan. Oh well, we'll see. I know that our house is out there!!!!

A new day
Ever since we started looking for a house (like 2 months ago--or more), Steve and I have loved this one house plan. It's just perfect for us right now!! Well, we couldn't find it in the area of Columbia that we want to live so we pretty much gave up on it. Well yesterday, Steve went to drive by one of the houses that is on our top 5 list and he saw a neighborhood that is by the builder that we like. He went in and talked to the sales lady. She showed them what they had and as they talked, he mentioned that we liked a certain floor plan. She said we can build that but not in this section. We can do it in the other part of the neighborhood. So we are both excited and he is going to talk to her again today. It didn't show up on of the sites because they don't do spec homes in this neighborhood. So that would mean that it would be a few months before we could get a house. I still don't know if this is the house we will get or not but it sure would be nice. God has our house and we are trying to wait on Him but boy is it hard at times!!!
Today, Steve is working up here so he got to sleep late and then just had a short drive to work!! That is great for him. He has had such long days lately. He is also getting off a little early. What a day. Then to top it off, our friends the Rooney's are coming for a visit. We are planning on a better time with them than last time when everybody got sick!!!
Now off to figure out where the leak in the air bed is!! It has a slow leak and left Jennifer and Lance on the floor last time!! Sorry guys! If we get this new house there will be room for a real bed!!!

Up and downs
Now for the adventures that have been happening around here....like going in over 30 houses has not been enough!!
Yesterday, we met Shelby's best friend up at the pool for a couple of hours. We also took the neighbors, Conner and Margaret with us. Yep, I've totally lost my mind--taking 6 kids to the pool when 4 of them are under 9 and 2 of those can't swim!!! But guess what, we have life guards who actually do their jobs this year!!! And I came back home with all 6!!! Margaret was a huge help. She held Casey in the pool or held Landon in his float most of the time. She did play with the others some but mostly she hung out with Krista and I and the babies!! I sure am going to miss her!!! She has been such a huge help to me and all the kids love her to death. Well while we were in the big pool, Casey started saying that she wanted to get in the "CAT POOL." It took a while but I finally figured out that she meant the "KIDDIE POOL!!" I guess she heard "kitty and kiddie" pool when we've been talking about it. And we all know how much cat's just love water!!!
Today, Landon found his mode of revenge--at least for a while. While I take a shower they play in the bathroom. I put Landon in the walker and Casey just hangs around--sometimes giving Landon toys and sometimes taking them from him. Well today he ran over her toes!!! She got mad but also "kared" of him. She got between the free standing towel bar in our bath and the shower door!! He kept her there the rest of the time I was in the shower. Let's just say that she like to dish it out but isn't very good at taking it!!!
We'll see how the day goes when they get back up from nap.

Home again..
It was a long drive yesterday. It started off when we stopped by Granddaddy's to say good-bye. We were in two cars (me and the little ones in the van, Steve, Shelby and Max in the truck and Drew staying at Mimi's). Since Steve had Max, he was trying to be nice and leave the truck running while we were inside saying good-bye. Well that little plan backfired in a major way. While we were inside, Max locked Steve's truck!!! Yep we were in the middle of NO WHERE and the extra key is in the house in Fort Mill! Let me just say that Steve did an AMAZING job keeping his cool!!! I'm sure he was ready to make us short on furry 4 legged family member! He tried for a few minutes to get the door open with a coat hanger while I tried to get Max to step on the lock or window again. Steve finally decided to give up and we were going to drive back here, get the key and go back to my parents--sounds like loads of fun doesn't it? NOT!!!!! Before we did that, we decided to call our neighbor and see if he would come over and get the truck key and meet us in Columbia. Well they were not home and we found out when we got in that they couldn't get in anyway. While driving back up to my mom's I thought about a locksmith. At some points, money is no option and this was one of those times for me!! We called the locksmith but he was opening some one's car and would call us back, so we waited. While we waited, KP went up to check on Max. Well, while Mimi was giving the locksmith directions to her house, KP drove up in the truck blowing the horn!!!!! How did he get in? Max finally stepped on the window button and let the back window down!!! The locksmith was very nice and happy we got in and got Max without him. I was happy that it was only going to be $75!!! What a deal!!!! We joked around with Max, Mimi and KP for a few minutes and then headed home again.
We wanted to take a look at a neighborhood on the way home. Well traffic on I26 was stop and go but mostly stop!!! It was painful--especially after the delay with the keys. We did go by the neighborhood only to rule it out but that's okay because now we don't have to waste time on our next house hunting day--which is Tuesday afternoon. We have about 6 houses left to look at and then I think we will have seen all that we need to see, unless of course something new comes on the market. So far we've seen about 25 houses and have driven by WAY more just to check out the house/neighborhoods.
Shelby was happy that Macy was able to come over last night when we got home. They've missed each other this week. Wow, I can't believe I was gone a week it didn't seem that long (well at times it did). We are now in maintenance mode now with the house, so things ought to go pretty easy--if I can get everyone back on schedule before I mess it up again in a few weeks--Angela and her family get in from Texas on the 15 so we will be going for a visit which will throw all of us off schedule one more time but that's okay!!!
We are so blessed and love each one of you--especially my Uncle Jack and Aunt Jammie who are still talking to us even though we backed out of our plans with them at the last minute because the kids were so tired and walking that thin line of meltdown/no meltdown. We hope that they have a wonderful trip to the beach this week--they deserve it!!! Please continue to be in prayer for the little boy up here named Adam. I've sent out some emails about him in the past. He had a bad night last night (his heart stopped 2 times). I know his parents were scared to death as they watched everything. He seems better this morning but he is not out of the woods and still has a long way to go with his cancer treatment. Also Annie is doing well and trying to adjust to being back in their village. Annie and her family are really seeing God at work as people who saw her burned are now seeing the wonderful work God is doing in her life. They are getting to see the power of our God!! One of them, who Missy thinks is probably a witch, even said that God was taking care of their family. God is at work all around us!!! I have been trying to remember that daily as it's easy to get caught up in what's "wrong" or only seeing our world not the world around us!!!
