Pinewood Derby Cars Anyone?

As part of RAs (Royal Ambassadors), Drew got to build a Pinewood Derby Car. Our neighbor, Conner, has been going with our family to church on Sunday nights so Steve helped both boys build their cars.Here are Drew and Conner sanding their cars. Steve and Shelby kept an eye on them!!!
Shelby was a little irritated that she didn't have a car so in a few weeks we are going to be making similar cars and will have the LP 500! Pinewood Derby rules say that the car can weigh no more than 5 ounces!!! Steve brought home a postal scale from work so that we could get the cars as close to the 5 ounces as possible.Drew and Conner had a great time weighing their cars. I think we need one of these scales.

Those boys and Shelby used that thing for over an hour!!!!

After getting the correct amount of weight, Drew sealed his car with wood putty and then the waiting began. It had to dry over night and then be sanded again before the real fun.....PAINTING!!!!

Drew chose red and blue for his car. That was great because we already had red paint!!!! Steve talked him through the process but Drew did the paint job.
All in all I think they all had a good time. Conner told his mom that building this car with Steve was way more fun than when he built one with his dad!!!
