Quote For The Day

Daniel Webster:
"If we stay true to the teaching of the Bible, our country will go on prospering. But if we and future generations neglect its instructions and authority, no one can tell what sudden disaster may crush us and bury all our glory in darkness"

The kids and I read this quote today. We are reading In God We Trust: Stories of Faith in American History. We are reading this as part of our study of world history from 1850 to the modern times.

Not Me Monday....Again, Already?????

Again????
Already???
Is it Monday again???

Yep, I guess it is!!!
I did not listen to Casey and Landon squealing with delight today while I was teaching Drew and Shelby. If I had heard them enjoying their self in that manner, I would have definitely gone right away to see what was so grand!! Since, I didn't let them continue with "what ever they were doing" (I was sure it didn't involve water, fire or sharp objects), I didn't have to blog about finding a box of corn flakes all over my living room floor!!! (Just see below)

I did not have Shelby sit in the bathroom with Casey and Landon while they were in the tub. If she had been the one in there with them, it would not have been so that she could see what is like to keep telling people over and over not to do something or to settle down and it be to no avail!! Nope not me!!

I was not disappointed this weekend when Steve was able to fix his favorite blue chair. I would never want to get rid of something my husband enjoys!!

So there you have it a pretty quiet week around here. What didn't you do this past week?
Join in the fun and let us know. This blog carnival was started by Mckmama and you can head over to her blog (just click the Not Me Monday button at the top) and see what she and a lot of other people have NOT been up to.

Just For The Record

Do you see this cute little boy? Well, he got up at 5:30 this morning!!! Apparently, he convinced his daddy that he was done sleeping and wanted to get in the bed with mommy. Uhm, I think not!!

So who followed in his footsteps shortly there after? Yep you guessed it!!

And what happens when we get up so early?

We fall asleep well before lunch!!

And then like any crazy mom, I woke him up!!

Yep, I sure did. Then I had the fun time of trying to teach and keep one crabby toddler happy.

So what is a mom to do? I have to teach and I need to pay bills and I can't do any of it with him hanging off of me and screaming!!

I know, just let him take a nap.

Well that would be fine except then he would be insane at dance because he would be you guessed it TIRED!!!

So I gave both of them an envelope and showed them how to put paper into it.
Problem solved!!!!

So back to teaching and paying bills and all that fun stuff.
A few minutes later, the laughter starts to erupt from the living room.
GREAT, they're playing and not fussing!!! Let's get the rest of this wrapped up.
Now this hysterical laughing went on for no more than a few minutes. I could hear this strange crinkly sound but that's okay because it sounded just like those envelopes I gave them. You know the ones with the plastic windows!!
By the way has anyone seen Max? He usually hangs out with us--especially when Casey and Landon start getting wild!!

Hum, maybe I better go check!!!

So what were they doing that was so much fun?

Well they were making sand, I guess. What were they using?

A box of corn flakes!!!

Max was taking one for the team.

Guess he figured he would eat all the corn flakes and then Casey and Landon wouldn't get in quite as much trouble!!

It might have worked a little. OH yea, see the envelope? Close at hand. Casey was sitting on hers!

Counting Down

Remember those? Circles of paper hooked together to make a decoration or to use to count down to a special day?
Casey needs one of those. Anybody want to make one?
For what?
Her birthday of course!!!
Having her 3 siblings all have birthdays with a 2 month period is kind of hard on a little girl. She ask on a daily basis when it will be her birthday. She knows when her birthday is but has no concept of the time between her siblings birthdays and hers.

Currently, here is how the conversation goes.....
Casey:
When will it be my "berfday"?
Me:
Well, when is your "berfday" again?
Casey:
JanuAIRY 4th!
Me:
Oh yea!!
Well first we have to have Koko's birthday, then halloween, then thanksgiving, then Grandma's birthday, then Uncle Jack's birthday, then Christmas and then Casey your birthday will be next--right before mommy's!!!
Casey:
Okay. Can we go to Publix and get a boat cake?
Me:
Nope, probably not a boat cake but thanks for asking!!

Then she's off to something else--at least for a few minutes!!
I am thinking about making her a calendar for her to mark off the days till her birthday. I think I will put all the special days that come before it on there also just so she can have a visual.

Doesn't she know that time for me is flying by? That she is growing (like her siblings) way to fast?
So what are you looking forward to?

Time....

Does it ever seem to you that time is just rushing by?
It sure seems that way around here most of the time.
Our schedule just seems to stay full.
We are trying to get into (and stay there) a routine that will work for all of us.
Do you know how hard that is for 6 different people?
Some days it totally overwhelms me. Others I don't see why we have a problem at times.
Some days I look around and it's 5:30 and Steve will be home any minute. Where did the day go?
Other days, it just drags and drags.
Mimi reminds me at times that "the days and weeks they drag but the months and years they fly."
As time marches quickly on, I realize just how true that statement to be.

Casey and Shelby were about to burst to get our fall decorations out so we finally gave in!! This morning was great fun watching them look through all (about 10 things total) of them. It was all "new" to Casey. She is so excited to dress up. You would think the child never gets to play in dress up clothes--both of the girls actually!!! Landon was just excited to have something else to tote his cars around in--trick or treat pumpkins are great car transporters!!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday!
Yep it's that time again....
Time to let the rest of the world in on all the things you really did NOT do over the past week. You know like buying popcorn and slushies as soon as you walk in a store, just so everyone will be quiet.

This past week I definitely did not drive around for 2 days wondering what that awful smell in my van was only to find out it was dirty, sweaty clothes that had been tossed in the back and a left over coffee with lots of creamer. Nope not me--my van and laundry are always spotless and I never ever just leave drinks in the car!!

I did not serve cereal and pb and j for dinner on several nights because I just didn't feel like lugging 4 kids to the store.

I did not consider paying $75 more in co-pay on my insurance just so I could go to the doctor after my sweet husband got home from work instead of taking all the kids with me. I wasn't considering this just so that it would be easier for me. Nope I was definitely thinking of all the germs they would pick up in the office and I didn't want them to get sick!!
I did not wait till Landon was over 2 to get his hair cut for the first time.
And if I had waited that long, I would have never been prompted to cut it simply because I was tired of telling people that he was a BOY!!!

I did not wish that we had left his hair alone after it was cut and he looked so grown up.

I most certainly did not wish last night that I had let them cut just a little more off the sides!! I am never that indecisive.

I did not take my computer on a weekend camping trip just so my kids could watch a movie and would be still and quiet at bed time.

I did not put a cutting board over the sink in the camper (so that little hands would not be tempted to bother dirty dishes instead of going to sleep).

If I had done this, I would NEVER set my computer on the sink so that they could watch just one Curious George before bed.

And since I didn't do any of the above things, my best friend did not ask what the water coming from the camper was!! Nope she didn't have to say a word!!

I did not then open the camper door to see a certain little boy--who didn't get a first hair cut the same day--sitting there with the water turned on--right over my computer!!!

Nope, it never happened because Steve and I watch the kids until the fall asleep and never sit outside the camper door for 5 minutes to eat while they are going to sleep. Nope not ever--not any more!!!

Now don't you feel better about your week? I know I do!

This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. Now it's your turn. Post your own Not Me Monday and let me know about it in the comments and join the fun.
