State Fair

It's been 14 years since Steve and I have been to the State Fair.
We took the kids on Friday and decided that we are good for another 14!!!!
We did have fun and Steve and I would go back again--no kids--just to people watch!
This is the first ride that most of us (4 out of 8) got on.  All I have to say is 4 people in our group had better sense than the other 4!!!  One of us came to our senses just as the ride started.

One of the 4 people pictured in the above 2 photos wished they had stayed on the ground--and it wasn't Shelby!  She may not look like it in this picture but she was having a blast.  Landon had to be held in place because he wanted to be able to see EVERYTHING!!!
These are the 4  that chose to stay firmly planted on the ground--Koko, Drew, Casey and Mimi!

Casey and Landon had a great time riding the kiddy rides!  Take a look at their expressions!  It was so funny to watch them.

This was Casey's favorite ride.

 She loves the carousel.

Shelby and Drew waiting on a ride.
The State House made from sand.  That was cool.
This was the last we saw of the fair!
Drew and Steve however, saw this......

Skillet
a.k.a the only reason Drew cared about going to the fair!
a.k.a the only reason any of us went!

Everything we do.....

We are working on changing things at our house.  Some changes are small and most people will never notice and that's okay!  But other changes are not so small and while I hope people see that something is different, that is not why we are working so hard to change our way of life, of thinking and our actions.  Perfect--not even close.  We fail daily but God's grace and mercy is new each day and we are striving to change for Him!

Here are the lyrics to our new "theme" song....

You’re picking up toys on the living room floor
for the 15th time today
Matching up socks and sweeping up lost
Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
and head out the door
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you
Do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do
Maybe you’re that guy with the suit and tie
Maybe your shirt says your name
You may be hooking up mergers, cooking up burgers
But at the end of the day
Little stuff big stuff in between stuff
God sees it all the same
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do
Well maybe you’re sitting in math class
Maybe you’re on a mission in the Congo
Maybe you’re working at the office
Singing along with the radio
Maybe you’re dining at a five star
Or feeding orphans in Myanmar
Anywhere and everywhere you are
Whatever you do it all matters
So do what you do and don’t ever forget
to do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace as you do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do

Have a GREAT DAY everyone!!!!

I blinked....

and the month of August was gone and September is almost over!
How did this happen?  It has been a whirl wind of activity around here I guess that's how I "lost" so much time.
Here's the recap (you know so that I will be able to remember later)

We went on the family mission trip with our church again this year.  It was a long and hot weekend but great none the less.  This was the first year that we let Casey go.  Mommy has a rule that you need to be 5 to come on the trip because you need to be able to sleep and not be held for the most part.  She did fall asleep during the block party on Saturday night (but only for a little while and then she was up and going again)!  She had a great first trip!

We got home on Saturday night and on Sunday you will not believe this but.....
This young man turned 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really do not know how this has happened.  I remember so very well the night he was born, the day we FINALLY got to bring him home, the first time we got to go to bed without his monitor, his HUGE first birthday.....all of those happened just last week.  I'm sure.  How did he grow up so very fast.  His cake had 15 candles and only 3 of them were trick candles!  Poor guy!!

Next on the list was AWANA.  This year, I am co-comander with a great guy.  He keeps me laughing.  I'm not sure how I got asked to take this position but it's been an experience.  Two years ago, there is no way I would have done this but now--well, we'll see.  I get so nervous every week.  I'll be fine right after parents night is over and the scavenger hunt.

Then came Landon's birthday.  He could hardly stand the waiting.  He knew just what he wanted for his birthday and told us LOTS.  The only problem with that was the fact that the stores around here no longer had them in stock but Amazon to the rescue!

He was very excited to turn 4.  That's a big deal in our house because there is a small rite of passage that comes with being 4!  Are you ready for it.....you can have GUM!!!!  Yep, no gum until you are 4 and then if you can't keep it in your mouth you have to wait until you are 8.  So far, we have not had to make anyone wait until they are 8!

Now, this young lady is waiting on her birthday.  I know it will be here before I am ready but not before she is ready!

We also took a couple of camping trips and spent time with friends and family.

School is going full force and all the kids seem to be enjoying their co-op classes.  I'm enjoying watching all of the excitement that they still have for learning--at least most days.
