Bad hair day?

I just had to share these pictures with you. They are from last Friday. Casey had a doctor appointment and she wanted to wear her hair in a bow
.
This picture was from last Wednesday but this is pretty much what her hair looked like--only it was more centered and not so wild looking.
This is what it looked like Friday night when we pulled it down to get ready for bed!!! To be honest, it didn't look much different the next day when she got up. And when it looks like this, just brushing it does absolutely NOTHING!!!

FREEZE!!!!

You know, God has given me the best family in the world. I know there are days when I am ready to throw in the towel but that is true for all of us if we are honest.

The last few days have been surreal in some ways. Everyone is doing well and we are getting back to normal--what is that anyway?! Well while Steve and I were getting ready for bed the other night, he walked in laughing. I asked him way was so funny and he said "Does it ever feel like we are playing house? I don't think I've turned into my parents but here we are with a house and kids!" I laughed also but probably not for the same reason!!! It is wild at times to stop and see how much our lives have changed over the past few years.
I had one of those moments last night. I was feeding Landon and Casey was waiting to go to bed. Well, she went and got a book and took it to Drew and said "Weed book, Do." So when I looked up, there they were on the floor giggling and laughing at the story. When did this happen? I'm sure it was just yesterday that we were coming home from the hospital with Drew. If not, then it had to be just the other day that Drew learned to "read" Cookies Week. And to think that he cried when we found out Casey was a girl!!!
While I was putting Casey to bed, I could hear this crazy laugh coming from the living room. It was Landon (and Drew). Drew wasn't touching Landon--just "talking" to him. Landon thought it was soooo funny.
I don't have a picture of all Shelby has been doing but she is changing right along with the others. She and I did what she thought was a major overhaul on her room (we could have done more!) the other week. Well that night, Steve and I were discussing how long she would keep her room clean. Well she has out done both of us. That room is still clean!!! Then yesterday, we were under a tornado WARNING and she stayed calm!! She almost lost it but she came down stairs and did great staying still and quiet. Then she got up and when I asked here where she was going she said to pray. She stayed downstairs but went to a quiet place. When she came back, she was even better. What a great job she did. There was a time not so very long ago that the fact that there was thunder and lightening would have made her crazy. She is growing by leaps and bounds!!!
The saying that the days are long but the years are short is so true. Time is flying by at our house.

Guys Night Out

Guys Night Out!!

A couple of weeks ago, Steve and Drew had guys night out. And just what did they do? They went to the Monster Truck Jam. They had tickets to the first show of the event. They took the train into uptown--we just love the train--easy parking, cheap and quick--since it stops across from the Bobcats Arena. I think they had a great time. It was VERY loud!!! Drew had ear plugs but they didn't fit as well as one would have hoped.

This truck is Grave Digger. He was the headliner for the show. The last jump of the night he broke his axle so NO MORE GRAVE DIGGER--at least not that night. Those were HUGE trucks. Both of the guys said that the best part of the night was actually the intermission show. It was motor-cross bikes doing jumps. They were both awed by what they saw. Fortunately, Drew has not said that he wants to try any thing like that. I know one little girl who would love that type of thing!!! This was Drew's favorite truck of the night Monster Mut!

Sharing? What's that?

That would be a Casey question if she knew to ask it.

Guess what Landon got today that Casey wants....

A Bumbo. Okay I know most of you don't know what this it but I will show you......

Doesn't he look so cute?!! I just knew he would love this seat and he does!!! Babies can start using it when they have head control--of course we are way past that point but he is really enjoying sitting in this "chair." You can get a tray for it also.

Don't you just want to pinch those little cheeks?!! He was crying when Steve came in with this tonight but I put him in it and he sat there for probably 15 minutes while I finished fixing dinner.

Casey got a new ball today and boy does she love it!!! She has had the best time with a $3.00 ball. She can walk up to it and kick it and throw it and roll over the top of it and sit on it and hold it while she takes a nap--don't ask!!!

You can't really see her new ball because she's showing Landon how much she loves it. (And probably how he's not going to play with it. You see the concern in his face don't you!!)

Now even though Casey didn't really want to share her ball with anyone--she will let us hold it but really she is happy if we just leave her alone and watch her play ball--but she did feel like she should get a turn in the Bumbo. She spent the next 1/2 hours sitting in this seat watching Curious George. Hey, twice the use for the same money!!! Guess we'll see how tomorrow goes. She didn't think it was near as fun when I told her "NO you can not put it on the couch!!" How ever her baby also likes to sit in it and so does her ball. Oh, don't you love Casey's hair. She LOVES bows but you have to pull her hair up to help them stay in but her hair sticks up then!!! Oh well, she loves it.

Signs of the times

One is funny (well both are probably funny to all of you) and one is well not so funny and one is just FYI.

1. Casey knows which remotes (yes, it takes more than 1) you need to use and when to make the DVD player in the living room play "Shortcake."

2. Yesterday, our neighbor was here shadowing me for her school day. No pressure there!! Anyway while I was cooking lunch for everyone, Shelby said, "Mom, these days when ever you use the oven, I have my running legs on!"

I know all of you are laughing at that one but it wasn't funny to me yesterday. I realize that as of late my cooking has left something to be desired but still!!!!!!!!!! If I could get the clean cycle on the oven to work, it would be better now.

3. Landon finally turned over from his back to his stomach last night. We all spent probably 40 minutes watching him try for it last night but he just didn't make it. Then when Steve went in to check on him this morning, he was on his tummy. I know he turned over some time after 3 am because he had me in there at that time. He seems to have a difficult time turning his head so that he can lay with his cheek down so that worries me a little. Just add it to the list of things we will talk with Dr. S today about.

As far as how everyone is doing....well.....
Casey seems better for the most part. She is still tiring out easily. Landon is sounding bad--like he's loosing his voice again (that's how all of this started). Drew, Shelby and Steve are good. I think I'm fighting off something but I'm not planning on getting sick!!!!

Oh how do you like the new look? Did you notice it's a light house? When I first logged in, I thought what has happened to my blog. I forgot that I had changed the look. It may stay this way or I may change it again. You just never know around here.

Just an update....

I QUIT!!!!!!!!!

Well not really but I sure have felt that way this week. Steve said that he would hunt me down if I quit my job so I guess I'll hand around a little longer.

Landon had a planned doctor appointment yesterday to check his breathing. Over all he is doing better. His breathing sounded worse yesterday but....there are other signs that point to fact that he is improving. He is taking fewer breaths per minute so that is great. He is also starting to cough up some of the phlegm but that is a problem in that he is also choking on it at times. Boy can he make my heart race!!!!

Casey did NOT have a planned visit yesterday but got one anyway after she, shall we say used her mouth to decorate not only her clothes but her car seat and other parts of the van!!!! I think poor Steve turned SEVERAL shades of green. I am so proud of him!!!! Bodily fluids is not his strong suite by any means but he did a great job!!! He even went home and got me a car seat. We have a spare but it really needs to be replaced due to age. I have seriously considered throwing away Casey's seat from yesterday. If I had known where the garbage can was located, I might have done just that. Now though I am getting ready to get out the owner's manual and see how to take it apart and start cleaning it. After seeing the doctor, Casey seemed to feel great!!! Of course!!! Today she was grumpy when she got up this morning but she seemed "better." Now she's just gotten up from her nap and can I just say that I might test Steve on that hunting me down issue!!!! She is coughing, her nose is full of "stuff" which is flowing--surely there is an end to all of this and to top it all off she just got sick--at least she didn't get it on the couch. We may still keep her.
We are also getting the fun job of collecting "samples" from Landon's diaper. NO FUN!!! In that category I spilled the container last night at 2am. I was so mad with my self!!!! I just love bleaching my kitchen in the wee early hours of the morning!!!
I must say that I'm ready for everyone to be better.
I am very thankful that NO one else has gotten sick. Drew and Shelby are doing great. We even got school done today. Steve said we should just take a break and I sorta felt that way, too, but I also wanted to count the day.
Well off to spray more Lysol and bleach some more surfaces. Anybody want to come over and play?
