What Little Brothers Are Good For....

There are lots of things that little brothers are good for.  Some of these things are better than others.....like say picking the first and only tomato off your big sisters plant....She loves him though because all she wanted to know was if I could put it back on her plant!!!

And 2 Became 1!!!

Happy 15th Anniversary Steve!!!!

I'm at a loss for words.  I know that surprises some of you but it's true.  I want to tell you how awesome is the man that God has given me for a husband, for a best friend, for my children's father.  God has given me the best.

Who would have thought that one Wednesday night in April of 1990, my mom would ask Steve to come back for dinner after church and the world would change for ever!!!  I am so thankful to my for asking Steve to dinner.  Steve, thanks for coming.  Then the following Friday we had our first date--a picnic at the lake.  We had Burger King for dinner and watched one of his friends fly his plane over the lake.  Then guess what, on July 4th, 1993, we returned to the same spot and had the same dinner only this time there was something better than watching a plane do some stunts--there was a RING and LIFE CHANGING QUESTION!!!!!

My heart swells every time I think about our wedding day.  My favorite part of the wedding (besides Steve Burnette saying we were married) was the time Steve and I spent alone before the wedding, before the pictures--just us.  That has got to be one of the most special moments in my life!!

Daily, I wait for Steve to get home.  My heart skips a beat when I see his number on caller id, or I see his truck or just hear his voice.  I love this man and can not even imagine how I would ever make it without him.  One year, Steve gave me a card with things A to Z about me that he wrote.  I read it all the time...
So here it goes, things I love about Steve--just some of them:
He loves God!!!
He's a great dad--one I've seen change so much--especially for someone who had never really been around little kids.
He's so tall that I can stand under his arm when he holds it out.
He is such a hard worker.
He has a generous spirit.
He is silly.
He is serious.
He is sooo very smart.
He is so very handsome.
He's not afraid to try new things.
He loves music.
He has a great voice.
He went to Disney 3 times!!!
He took me to Hawaii!!
He loves me!!!

What it's all About

We had a great time camping this past week.  It was a first for Steve, Shelby, Casey and Landon and I think they all enjoyed it.  I know Steve had a good time--despite the cold and rain.  When oh when will the weather forecasters start getting close to the actual forecast?
On Monday, Steve and KP had to take a "class" on the 2 campers we were renting.  While they did this, Mimi and I let the kids look in all the campers that they could (some of them were locked).  After I stepped in an ant bed, I was ready to go inside!!  Inside, we found out that there was a bird.  The lady in the office said that he bites and not to put your finger in the cage!!  Casey spent quite a bit of time trying to get the bird to ring the bell in his cage.  She kept asking him if he was ready to ring the bell and then telling him to do it.  He didn't listen--hum, kinda sounds like us at times!!!
We got to the campground and got set up just in time to start dinner.  We had a great time and finally got everyone in bed after 10.  Pour Mimi and KP (and Casey and Drew) were right next to the bath house and activity center so they got most of the noise.  We would have all slept well if it had not been so dog-gone cold outside.  We now all have a new respect for 51 degrees--you need more than a light blanket and shorts!!!
Even thought the rest of our trip was cool (we finally got some long pants to sleep in Tuesday night and that helped a bunch) and misty we had fun.  We had a campfire both night and roasted marshmallows, we watched Idol on a TV KP and Mimi brought (I know talk about roughing it), but who am I to say anything, we brought a dvd player so Casey and Landon could watch George!!  See.....
We played Spoons
and American Trivia with the kids.  We went on walks, played on the playground, flew kites on the beach and just enjoyed being together.  Now on to planning the next trip!!

Happy Mother's Day

It's getting late but I wanted to say

Happy Mother's Day to all of my family and friends.

We have had a nice day.  We ate lunch with some new friends and then I got to come home and take a nap.  After napping, we started the job of packing for our camping trip.  That's been lots of fun.  we can't wait to go on our trip.  I know it will be great.

While I was packing, the kids had fun playing in Steve's truck.

The first picture is Landon driving and Casey wondering what she has gotten into.
The second one is funny --it shows that our kids are just like us--Landon (like Steve) is driving and Casey (like me) is covering her eyes, while Landon looks at her like "what is your problem?"!!!

Enjoy.

Toddlers Do NOT Bounce....

Nope, toddlers do not bounce--not one little bit!!!  Yesterday we went to Sonic for lunch and came home with first hand knowledge of the fact that toddlers don't bounce and concrete is HARD!!  Never mind that there were 4 adults, 1 almost teenager, a preteen and a 3 year old, Landon still managed to fall of the bench!!  On the way down, he whacked his head on the concrete bench occupied by Drew and Steve.  Then made contact with the concrete floor.  It scared me to death and just so you know, we did try and put ice on his head but he would have NOTHING to do with that.

On the way home, we stopped by our neighbors house since she's a nurse.  She took a look at him and said he probably didn't need to go to the doctor and that she would come down and check on him again later.  She was so sweet.  She went and got him a popsicle so that he might be distracted enough eating that and we could get some ice on that head--no such luck.
He wasn't wearing this shirt (which says "I do all my own stunts") when he fell but maybe he should have had it on.

Here is how we look today.  Much better.

Okay I have no idea this program is turning my letters blue and underlining everything!!  It's making me crazy so I am going finish up and hope to figure it out later!!!

Time is Flying by....

Time is flying by at an alarming rate for me.  Drew is no longer a little boy but is turning into a great young man.  It hit me like a ton of brick when I was taking pictures the other night.  I can remember so clearly (at times) when Drew was Landon's age.  It couldn't be that long ago!!!  Now here he is not wanting to run and play in the yard as much but wanting to sit and talk with Steve.  Don't get me wrong he still runs and plays and acts like a kid but I can really see a new side to him.
